Shortly after retiring in 1998, Neilma attended classes at the Toledo Musem of Art and polished her skills with the help of Tom Durnford in his painting classes, then she joined the Toledo Artist's Club for more classes and contributed to periodical Art Shows every few months at the Toledo Botanical Gardens.
